Born in Soochow, China, in 1907, C.C. Wang studied with several famous Chinese painters, such as Wu Hu Feng. He taught painting in Soochow and at the Shanghai Academy of Art.

In 1936, he became advisor to the London Exhibition Committee for selecting work from the Palace Museum Collection for a major exhibition of Chinese Art.
