Two exceptional works by the singular genius of the 20th century whose achievements continue to captivate the world.

The special attention he lavished on his portrayals of women is evident in these two striking compositions. Jacqueline Rogue, the artist's wife of later years, was captured in 1957, with a vivid geometry and a whimsical rendering which includes a fanciful frame as part of the image.

Pablo Picasso

In 1954, he painted 20-year-old Sylvette David, whom he had glimpsed walking with her English husband around Vallauris. Although in fact she was French, he enjoyed thinking about her as an incarnation of English beauty which inspired him to complete some 40 drawings and oils of her in a month's time; each marked by a direct and objective clarity and delight.
