Born in Seulejze, Armenia in 1920, Jean Jansem moved to Paris in 1931. Having received his diploma from L'Ecole des Arts Decoratifs in 1938, he first made his living from the publication of comic sketches and animated cartoons. It was in 1944; however, with a painting entitled "Violinist" -exhibited at Le Salon des Independents-that his astonishing success began. To Jansem, as a painter and graphic artist, images of women have been a constant theme and source of inspiration. |
