Guillermo Silva Santamaria was born in Bogota, Columbia in 1921.  He pursued his studies in Art Schools and Graphic Art Workshops throughout Latin America, the United States and Europe.


Silva’s technique encompasses a unique use of brilliant colors and surrealistic imagery, which draws immediate attention o his work.  His controlled use of the two, combined with his acute sense of humor, make his work outstanding in the world of art.


As a teacher headquartered in Mexico City, he has trained an entire generation of etchers, and now expanding into lithography, his work is reaching ever-higher international renown.


For the past few decades, Guillermo Silva has been a leading exhibitor in the finest galleries of the world.  His awards and prizes are innumerable and his work is included in most of the important private collections and permanent collections of museums throughout the United States and Latin America, including The Brooklyn Museum, The Boston Museum, The Library of Congress and many others.
